This page explains where our numbers come from, how we check them, and what we do when they are wrong.

1. Where prices come from

Every price is stored with its source type, a short description (for example the store and city), and the date it was checked. In order of preference we use:

  1. Official website or app for a named store.
  2. In-store menu boards or receipts that we photographed ourselves, with the store and date recorded.
  3. Delivery apps, only when nothing better exists. These are labelled because delivery prices are usually higher than in store.

We never publish a price we cannot source. If we do not have a price for a size, the page shows “–”.

2. Prices vary by location

Most chains let stores set their own prices. City-centre, airport, station and motorway locations often cost more. Our prices are typical in-store prices from the source shown; your local store may differ. We say whether prices include tax, VAT or GST for each country.

3. Calories, nutrition and allergens

Nutrition and allergen information comes from the brand's own published nutrition and allergen guides. We record which size a value refers to. If an item's allergen information is not published we mark it “not published”, we never present it as allergen-free. Our allergen information is a summary, not medical advice: always check with the restaurant.

4. Review schedule

  • Every menu is re-checked at least every 30 days, and after major menu launches.
  • Each page shows the date it was last checked.
  • If a menu has not been checked for 60 days, the page shows a warning until it is.
  • After each review we save a price snapshot. The “What changed” section is generated by comparing the latest two snapshots.
  • The “last modified” date we give search engines changes only when the data actually changes, not every time we rebuild the site.

5. Deals and coupons

We only list deals we can confirm from an official source, with an end date. Expired deals are removed automatically. We do not publish unverified coupon codes.

6. Independence

We are not affiliated with any restaurant. Restaurants cannot pay to be listed or to change what we publish. We do not use brand logos or official product photos. We do not publish star ratings or reviews, because we have no system for verifying them.

7. Corrections

Every menu page has a Report an outdated price form. You can also email corrections@menupricewatch.com. We aim to review every report within 3 working days. When we correct a price, the new value is saved in the next snapshot and shows up in the page's “What changed” section.

8. Use of automation

{AUTOMATION_STATEMENT, describe honestly which parts are automated (e.g. price-change detection, table generation) and which are done by people (checking prices, writing guides). Update if your process changes.}
